Portrait
How is your image different than a simple ID photograph?
In these portraits I strived to use my lighting and model in a more creative way.
What lighting techniques did you use?
In some of my first taken pictures of this assignment, the lighting was very bad. There was either too much light, too little light, or the angle of light was wrong. As I continued with this assignment, the lighting got much better. The fourth picture was a little too dark. I had to edit a bit to have acceptable brightness and shadows. In the first picture, the face is a little dark, but the focus is on the hair, so it is not as noticeable.
What is the feeling/mood that is set by the combination of lighting and your model?
The pictures have a sense of drama. Since we were not aiming for the normal "stare at the camera and smile" pictures, the model and the lighting had to be different and interesting.
What could you do differently to heighten that mood?
Since the lighting is not perfect and was not designed for a specific model/pose, I could change the lighting to heighten distinct features to increase the drama.
